We currently have an opportunity for an Applications Scientist working in the Lubricants business at Cowick Hall. The main purpose of the role is to apply technical knowledge to evaluate and formulate new and existing products to meet the needs of the automotive business principally in the area of industrial lubricants.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in chemistry or the relevant discipline or they will have gained previous experience within the lubricants industry. They will be an innovative scientist capable of working autonomously as well as being a team player. They should demonstrate excellent problem analysis and organisation skills. A keen eye for detail in addition to a good level of both written and verbal communication skills is essential. Some travel will be required.

The Sun Care and Biotechnology Division at Widnes is a world leader in the research, development and manufacture of naturally derived speciality bioproducts for personal care products and speciality inorganic UV absorbers for both skin and sun care applications. The Widnes site is also the commercial base for Croda’s global activities in biotechnology and sun protection actives.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager in our Biotechnology business. The main purpose of the role is to generate business for the bioproduction unit. This will involve developing and influencing contacts within the global speciality chemicals and biotechnology industry, coordinating and prioritising opportunities and negotiating commercial agreements. The role will require some overseas travel, both short and long haul, therefore periods away from home should be expected.

The successful candidate should have extensive experience in a commercial or techno-commercial role and be qualified to degree level in a biochemical discipline preferably with experience in fermentation. They need to be a self starter who has the initiative and ability to work independently. They must also be able to demonstrate excellent organisation, presentation and negotiation skills to make decisions and identify potential opportunities to grow our market share.

The key purpose of this position is to lead the relevant project Operational teams to ensure that project objectives are achieved. Responsibilities include defining and delivering significant projects in line with the IT strategic vision, working in collaboration with the IT Management team to create and define project standards and to provide regular development updates to the relevant parties.

To be successful, you must be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience in a similar role. You should have excellent project management skills and a proven track record of managing and delivering successful projects of all sizes. You will be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills. You should be capable of resolving complex problems and will also have the ability to work under a certain degree of pressure to drive tasked activities through to completion.

As the successful candidate you will be educated to at least A level standard or equivalent. You will have also gained previous experience within a similar role, ideally within a legal department. The main purpose of this role is to identify, develop and maintain profitable sales in Coatings and Polymers and negotiate the best achievable commercial agreements for product sales in line with annual targets and the sales plan as well as the business, marketing and pricing policies.

As the successful candidate, you will have a degree in chemistry or in a relevant business area. Ideally you will have also gained previous experience in a sales related role in the coatings and polymers industry. You will be a self-motivated individual with the ability to manage and plan your own workload. You must also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong commercial acumen is essential.

There is a significant amount of travel associated with this position and therefore you must possess a current Full UK driving licence.

The main purpose of the role is to coordinate the safe and efficient operation of the site in respect of the Safety, Health and the Environment management. This includes providing advice on the planning, implementation and maintenance of the site’s SHE policy as well as maintaining a full range of risk control programmes and procedures.

To be successful, you will hold a technical/engineering degree or a NEBOSH Diploma. You will have gained previous experience within a similar role, ideally within the chemical industry. You must be able to demonstrate your understanding of SHE regulations associated with the operation of the site. You should also be proficient in using the Microsoft Office applications. You should be capable of managing multiple tasks to enable deadlines to be met. You will be a good communicator with effective organisational skills.

We currently have vacancies for two Technical Sales Representatives. The main purpose of the roles is to increase business profitability in designated international territories through customer relationships and influencing the internal Croda network, as well as developing new opportunities for both new and existing products. Activity will be centred upon the sun care, biopolymer and synthetic polymer portfolios within the business. The role holders will provide technical and marketing expertise for the promotion of products and coordinate the delivery of customer specific technical development projects. Additionally they will be expected to develop and maintain up to date technical, market and regulatory knowledge. They will balance their time between travelling in the territories (which may be long and/or short haul) and planning and coordinating in the UK, both in the office and remotely, therefore significant time away from home should be expected.

The successful candidates will have previous experience in a technical and/or commercial role and have a degree in a scientific discipline. They must demonstrate excellent communication, presentation and organisation skills. The role requires tenacity and a good use of initiative to make sound decisions and identify potential opportunities to grow our market share.
