Sun protection

Like skin, hair is susceptible to damage from exposure to the sun's UVA and UVB rays. This damage affects the aesthetics as well as the mechanical and physical properties of the hair. UVB light disrupts disulfide links in the hair fiber making hair more prone to loss of strength and increases its porosity. UVB radiation is also responsible for the photoyellowing of gray hair resulting in discoloration. UVA light causes premature fading of color from hair dyes. UV filters added to the hair surface absorb the UV radiation and protect the hair from UV damage.
