I joined Croda in 2010 through the Apprentice Program and for a full year, I gained knowledge and experience in three different areas, R&D Synthesis Laboratory as a Research Scientist, Process as a Process Technologist and Quality as a Development Analyst. The programme provided a great opportunity to gain knowledge of the organisation from different perspectives. The apprentice program gave me the opportunity to learn fast about all the technologies that Croda uses and I was responsible for conducting many projects that helped Croda make improvements with products and laboratory instruments.
In 2011 I was given the role of Process Technologist and during this time I conducted and managed projects based on the Six Sigma methodology. I also provided day-to-day support on product issues to the manufacturing site.
In 2014 I was promoted to the next level of Process Technologist where I was responsible for keeping the operations KPIs according to our targets, and presenting these to management. During this time I also attended a management training course in the UK and as part of my managerial responsibility I also managed a graduate from our graduate program.
An opportunity arose in 2015 for me to move to the technical team. This would result in my first management role and now as a Lead Research Scientist I have the responsibility for leading a team and conducting synthesis projects of new product developments for all markets, transfer of global key products for local manufacturing and to make the synthesis laboratory safe and productive.
After almost three years as Lead Research Scientist, managing the synthesis team, I became Research Team Leader. In this new role, I lead a larger team being responsible for their appraisals, coaching and development. My project management skills have also been enhanced due to the requirements of this new position.
