Croda Continues Support of Sustainable Palm Oil with Latest Supply Chain Certifications in India and Latin America
Croda, a global speciality chemical company, is pleased to announce its manufacturing sites in Brazil and India are the latest to receive certification from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a non-profit, multi stakeholder organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable production of palm oil worldwide, for Mass Balance production at its site.
Croda has now successfully achieved certification of a number of its manufacturing sites to handle Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) materials via Mass Balance, including facilities in Asia Pacific, Europe and the USA. These latest certifications in India and Latin America further demonstrates Croda’s commitment to responsible sourcing of palm oil and palm kernel oil on a global scale and supports Croda’s plan to offer CSPO derived products at its manufacturing sites world-wide by 2015.
Continually increasing its portfolio of certified sustainable palm oil derivative products, Croda can currently offer many of the core ingredients used by Personal Care manufacturers, including products from their heritage CithrolTM, SpanTM and TweenTM ranges, amongst many others. Additionally, the incorporation of “SP” into the product name clearly indicates to the buyer the responsibly sourced sustainable palm. By choosing to include SP ingredients in their formulation, consumer goods manufacturers will be able to demonstrate their proactive commitment to sustainable palm oil by stating “contains sustainable palm oil” on their relevant finished good packaging. Although 80% of palm oil produced is used within food production, there remains a responsibility within the personal care industry to drive the demand for sustainable palm oil. Croda has a schedule in place for RSPO audits of its remaining manufacturing sites and anticipates it will be able to offer certified sustainable palm oil derivative products from all manufacturing sites globally in 2015.
