1% Club is our employee volunteer scheme that enables all of our employees to use 1% of their annual working time to support local community-based activities. That equates to around three days a year for full-time employees. This not only supports local communities, but also helps boost staff morale and offers valuable opportunities for personal and team development.

Our community involvement activities are as diverse as the locations in which we operate. Rather than having one headline company charity, we achieve this diversity in our community activities by giving our employees the flexibility to respond to their local community needs. This is delivered with the support of our local management teams and our Group-wide, employee-led volunteering programme, 1% Club.

Donating 67 Minutes in South Africa
On Mandela Day, all South Africans were asked to spend 67 minutes helping their community to reflect the 67 years that the late President Nelson Mandela spent working for human rights. Our South African team members spent 67 minutes playing football with underprivileged youngsters from a children’s home, having previously donated food, clothing and blankets to the organisation.

Croda Colombia supporting women with Cancer
Croda Colombia, together with our customer, Profrance, ran a beauty session for women of the local Violetta Home Foundation. The activity was to support the global Look Good, Feel Better Foundation, which saw 13 women with cancer visit the office to listen to a talk and receive a cosmetics demonstration to increase their self-esteem.

If you are an organisation local to one of our sites and interested Croda volunteers donating their 1% Club time, please email sustainability@croda.com.
