Croda International Plc, who create, make and sell innovative, sustainable, high performance speciality chemicals that are relied on by industries and consumers everywhere, are proud to announce that their commitment to a deforestation-free supply chain has been recognised by CDP for their 2018 activities.
Awarded an ‘A-‘ for their Forestry Disclosure, having risen from a ’B’ in 2017, Croda have demonstrated their continued commitment to limiting their environmental impact through their supply chain. In this area, the company has a special focus on palm oil and are committed to supplying RSPO certified palm oil derivatives. 2018 saw their remining two sites that handle palm oil derivatives become RSPO Supply Chain Certified, bringing the number of certified sites across the Group to 14. The company also has stretching targets, which will see them only supply RSPO certified palm oil ingredients, subject to the feasibility of the supply chain. With the transition to RSPO Certified sustainable palm-based ingredients near complete in the consumer products business, they are well on their way to achieving this industry leading landmark.
2018 also saw Croda submit Water and Carbon disclosures, both of which saw the work in reducing their water usage and CO2 emissions recognised with a B- and B respectively.
Terry Thistlethwaite, Vice President of Sustainability at Croda commented “Sustainability runs throughout our business, at every level and across all our operations. We are continually looking for opportunities to continue to reduce negative impact on the planet whilst also developing the ingredients of the future for our customers and their consumers.
“To have our focus on managing our environmental performance, across all areas of our business recognised in this way by the CDP is fantastic.”
