Croda meets target on Sustainable Palm Oil
Croda, the global specialty chemical manufacturer behind the high performance ingredients and technologies in some of the biggest, most successful brands in the world, is pleased to announce that all relevant manufacturing sites are certified to handle Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) derivatives.
Eleven manufacturing sites, handling over 99% of the palm derivative volumes, are now Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil Supply Chain Certified (RSPO SCC) via physical supply chains, meeting the corporate target ‘To have RSPO certification of all our relevant supply chains by the end of 2015’.
The site in Jurong Island, Singapore was the first site to be certified in 2012, and in 2015 the final four sites in Gouda, the Netherlands, Leek, UK, Chocques, France and Hull, UK all received certification from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO),a non-profit, multi stakeholder organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable production of palm oil worldwide.
Croda has made a global commitment to sustainable palm oil, and can now handle CSPO materials from facilities in Asia Pacific, Europe, South America and North America. This latest development demonstrates Croda’s commitment to sustainability and the responsible sourcing of palm oil and palm kernel oil on a global scale.
Chris Sayner, VP of Global Accounts commented: “Supporting CSPO is a material issue in our sustainability programme. We consider this to be a global concern and our efforts are consistent in all regions, as exemplified by certification and manufacture in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Beyond necessary support for RSPO and sustainable palm, Croda is committed to reducing its contribution to deforestation and any resultant impacts on climate change and biodiversity by working with organisations such as the RSPO and suppliers and customers to ensure traceability of critical raw materials back to suitably accredited sources.”
