Bio based Industry Story of the Year Winner
Croda International Plc, the name behind high-performance ingredients and technologies that are relied on by industries and consumers everywhere, is celebrating being awarded the 2019 Bio-Based World News Innovation Award for “Bio-based Industry Story of the Year”. Croda were nominated for an article detailing the launch of their new 100% bio-based, 100% renewable range of non-ionic surfactants, the ECO Range.
The ECO range of bio-based surfactants is designed to meet increasing market demand for sustainable, high-performance ingredient options. This range provides 100% bio-based and 100% renewable options that reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and lower the carbon footprint of these ingredients versus their petroleum-based alternatives. By simply replacing a petroleum-derived ingredient with its renewable variant, a significant improvement in bio-based content and renewability can be achieved without a sacrifice in product performance.
The awards, announced on the second of April at the World Bio Markets Conference in Amsterdam, bring recognition to leading innovators from across the chemical industry for bio-based business successes. Croda was an exhibitor and presenter at this conference, discussing sustainability challenges and how they can support customers in overcoming them.

Croda’s ECO range of ingredients, sold across many of its market sectors, lead to the creation of both new and re-imagined products, including: cosmetics and hair care products for the personal care industry; lubricants and coatings in the automotive industry; air- and surface-care products in the cleaning industry; as well as drilling fluids in the oil industry. The range offers a wide variety of benefits including emulsification, detergency and cleansing, and solubilisation while delivering mild and stable formulations.
