RSC Emerging Technologies Competition

Croda International Plc, the name behind high performance ingredients and technologies that are relied on by industries and consumers everywhere, are proud to be a partner of the 2017 Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) Emerging Technologies Competition for the fifth consecutive year.

As the 40 shortlisted entries are announced, Dr David Freeman, Global Research and Technology Manager, Croda, will be part of the expert judging panel that will choose the final eight winners, as he has been since the competition was established in 2012. The judges will be looking for applicants to demonstrate the credibility of the science and overall technical feasibility, as well as the potential benefits to the chemical industry and their approach to the commercialisation of the technology. Winning entries will all showcase new technologies for a range of applications including health, energy and environment, food and drink and materials and enabling technologies.

Croda will also offer each of the winners tailored support and mentoring to guide them as they move their project forward in industry. Using Croda’s expertise from operating in a range of different markets, this collaboration will focus on the commercialisation of these innovations into the area where they will deliver most benefit to the chemical sector, as well as helping the entrants to foster and develop ideas that will enhance future innovation.

Dr Freeman said : “Every year I am astounded by the level of innovation and creativity that each of the applicants bring. Some of the technologies we see through this competition are exceptional and we at Croda are very fortunate to be able to mentor the winners. We recognise that innovation will underpin our future growth as a business, and it is also critical for the continuing development of the chemical industry, which is why competitions like this are so important.”
