First Acts of Kindness Beneficiaries

Croda International Plc, who use smart science to create, make and sell speciality chemicals that improve lives, are celebrating the positive impacts of their Acts of Kindness initiative.

Acts of Kindness was launched last week and sees Croda making up to £200,000 available to support communities close to their manufacturing sites during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Those first to benefit from the new initiative have been the local community around the Company’s manufacturing site in Campinas, Brazil. Here, working with the local Consultative Community Council, Croda delivered 110 meal and hygiene baskets over the week to local residents most in need during the Covid-19 pandemic. Employees of the manufacturing site also worked with some members of the local community to provide an additional 28 baskets as part of the initiative. Homes to benefit from the baskets have either young children or elderly family members. The baskets are intended to last for one month, with Croda planning to repeat the initiative in May, June and July, if still needed.

Marco Carmini, Managing Director Latin America Croda said: “We believe very strongly in working with our local community to support them in the best way during the Covid-19 pandemic. We will continue to work with the Consultative Community Council we have established to find additional ways to help though our Acts of Kindness Initiative. This will include plans to provide support to two local charities we already help through our sustainability programme; a shelter for older people and an orphanage.”

Croda continues to support the Covid-19 pandemic in several other ways, which include gifting vaccine adjuvants to Covid-19 vaccine development projects across the world and sharing their smart science with academics working on the vaccines. The company has also gifted excipients to projects working on trial medication for the virus. Supporting employees during the pandemic is a priority for the company, who recently assured all employees that there are currently no plans to reduce employee numbers or reduce regular salary and benefits as a result of Covid-19.

Croda’s ingredients are used in thousands of end products, including items such as sanitisers and disinfectants, medicines, medical equipment, protective medical products, facemasks and items used in the making of Covid-19 testing kits.
