Striving for Global Manufacturing Excellence

Croda Inc’s United States manufacturing sites are now EFfCI certified

Croda Inc proudly announces that its manufacturing sites in New Castle, Delaware and Mill Hall, Pennsylvania have been awarded the EFfCI’s (The European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients) GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification.

EFfCI, which represents the collective interest of the chemical and natural ingredients industries as well as the suppliers and service providers of the cosmetic industry, developed an international GMP certification guide for Cosmetic Ingredients in 2005. The guide was based on the well-known and accepted *IPEC-POG* GMP for Pharmaceutical Excipients and employed the ISO 9001:2008 as a framework for the quality management system standard. The EFfCI GMP guide has been revised regularly to ensure it stays up-to-date with current quality and GMP thinking. A company’s purpose in gaining certification is to confirm it is using manufacturing controls and processes that ensure the ingredients it supplies meet quality and purity claims, and are suitable for the intended use.

Croda Inc’s certification was obtained after their New Castle and Mill Hall plants were audited and certified to conform to the stringent requirements of the EFfCI’s GMP standard for Cosmetic Ingredients by SGS, an approved certifying body. The Croda Inc production sites are among a select number of plants in the United States to receive the EFfCI’s GMP certification and this is a tremendous achievement for Croda.

The Delaware and Pennsylvania manufacturing facilities are among a growing international list of sites within Croda that have received this certification, including Japan, Singapore, France, Spain and the United Kingdom.

* IPEC-POG: IPEC and POG are abbreviations of “The International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council” and “The Pharmaceutical Quality Group” respectively.
